Precis: This debate article highlights some questions from critics of qualitative research. Planning for proper design, philosophical background, researcher as a research instrument in the study, trustworthiness and application of findings are main debates in this field. One of the issues that have been received little attention is report of qualitative inquiry. A qualified report can answer the critics. This requires that the qualitative articles cover all points about the selected method and rigourness of study conduct to convince policy makers, managers and all readers in different level.

Research in this age is of great importance. In the areas of product manufacturing and knowledge، the effect of research can be clearly seen. Thus، teaching how to write a scientific article can help. A point that is very important in writing a scientific paper is the individual’ s interest in the subject of research. If the researcher is not interested in the subject، it will be difficult for him. Hence، the researcher’ s knowledge about the topic is important. A scientific paper has a structure consisting of several sections including introduction، methodology، results، discussion، conclusion، acknowledgment and references. Awareness of these sections and how they can be written can help writers and researches to write valuable articles.

Objectives: Writing papers can be used as a means to convey a message. Knowledge transfer is also about conveying the right message to the right target audience. The aim of this study was to determine the proportion of articles that had mentioned a clear message and the target audience in the abstract and the article as a whole, and also to examine their association with different determinant factors.Methods: Articles published from 2001 to 2006 that were based on clinical and health system research conducted on Iranian populations and on maternal care, diabetes and tuberculosis were searched systematically in domestic and international databases.  Eventually checklists (Additional file 1) were completed for 795 articles.Results: Overall, 98.5% of articles had a clear message, whereas 12.5% had addressed the direct target audience. Presence of a clear message in formatted abstracts were seen 3.6 times more (CI95%: 1.5-8.7) than in articles without formatted abstracts (p = 0.005). Addressing of the direct target audience was seen twice as much in health system research articles as compared to clinical studies, odds ratio was 2.3 (CI95%: 1.47-3.48 ,p<0.001).Conclusions: Creating a format for journal abstracts seems to be an effective intervention for presenting the message in articles. 

Purpose: Today, the criteria for determining the global position and authority of countries and the basis of their allround development is the amount of knowledge production and their research achievements at the level of global competition. Obviously there is a direct relationship between research and technology and the amount of progress and sustainable development in the country. Giving importance to research and increasing research activities in the country has led to development and progress, self-sufficiency and real independence for that country. Materials and Methods: The study was in the form of a letter, according to the review of the Supreme Leader's list and the examination of the existing university laws in the Ministry of Health. Findings: Investigations show that in the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, the publication of articles in Persian language is becoming less popular and Various causes, including research policies in the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, lead to downplaying the importance of Persian language articles. Conclusion: finally, it is possible to move towards scientific productions in Farsi with encouraging policies.

Writing a scientific article is a big challenge for residents, clinical faculties and investigators, especially if they have not received formal training in scientific writing. Scientific writing requires the competence in two dimensions including scientific capabilities and art of scientific writing. Scientific competence is an indicator of authors’ strength in the science aspect of their research. The competence in art of scientific writing indicates authors’ abilities in writing, and selection and sequencing of paper’s content. Original papers in Medical Sciences include sections such as title, abstract, introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgement and references. Knowledge of the role of each section and the way they are written enable authors to write their papers in a more appropriate manner.

Background: According to growing increase of scientific journals in Iran and importance of precise methodology and validity of findings, and also lack of information about quality of published articles, this study was designed to evaluate accuracy of article writing of articles published in dentistry journals in 2006. Materials and methods: In this descriptive study, all original articles of dentistry journals were evaluated. Research methodology in different topics of articles, including abstract, introduction, methods and materials, results, discussion and references were assessed. Totally, 52 items were evaluated and classified as 3 categories of “correct”, “relatively correct” and “incorrect”. Data analysis was done by Chi-square. Results: one-hundred original articles were published in the study period. Mean (± standard deviation) number of authors was 2.9±0.84. The most frequent type of study was experimental-in vitro study (46%), followed by descriptive (33%), clinical trial (10%) and historical cohort (6%). The frequency of instrument validity report absence was 96%, no exact calculation of sample size 93%, unjustification of article publication 73%, and lack of restriction and valuable findings report 87%. Conclusion: There are great defects in published articles of dentistry journals. Implementations for reducing mistakes in article writing result in increasing validity of articles and application of true study results.
